- New Emission Standards on Motorcycles Impel the Industry Reshuffling

China will launch the 'National III' emission standards on motorcycles on July 1st of 2010; it will be a great boost for the Chinese motorcycle industry to eliminate nearly 400,000 to 500,000 units of unqualified motorcycles from the market. Currently, major motorcycle makers in Chongqing including Loncin, Zongshen, Lifan and Jialing have all strengthened their core technical R & D and carried out technical innovation and improvement; they are all able to meet the new standards. China's 'National III' emission standards on motorcycles will go effective on July 1st of 2010; the emission of all Chinese two-wheel motorcycles and light two-wheel motorcycles produced, sold and registered by then should all comply with the 'National III' standards; this policy will undoubtedly boost the development of the Chinese motorcycle industry. "Loncin's German series vehicles have already met or surpassed the 'National III' emission standards." Loncin's related person told the reporter that Loncin established the global strategic cooperation relationship with the German BMW in 2005 and got rid of the so called Japanese way of achieving economic performance by reducing vehicle's weight; Loncin fully stresses the German standards of 'technology, safety, comfortableness and durability', and became the first to produce Chinese vehicles with the 'German origin'. It's said that Loncin has already invested RMB 5.2 billion to build a world-class thermal power base. Zongshen is working hard on the new energy resources. It's said that Zongshen is creating a compact power product systematic service and is actively involving in the new energy resource motorcycle field. Currently, Zongshen can absolutely meet the national III standards with its fine-tuned carburetor, electrically controlled carburetor and EFI. The "'National III' standards require that the amount of exhaust emission produced should account for less than 50% of their previous produced emission and Zongshen's new energy resource motorcycle has far surpassed this standard," said Zongshen's responsible person. In addition, Jialing has already completed its technical improvement and technical reserve with the opportunity of the launch of the 'National III' standards; Jialing will also establish a new two-wheel vehicle business department and create its motorcycle industry global strategic layout.
